it's been pretty smoky around here since yesterday (and no, the crazy woman hasn't been cooking anything, but that's a good guess!). there's a new fire south of here called the fountain gulch fire, and while it's far enough away, the wind has been pushing the smoke straight to us. anyway, i sneezed, and while i love my auntie laura, i hope i'm not going to be a wheezy girl like her.

i coughed up my first hairball this morning. i picked a nice spot (carpeted, of course) by the bed just about where the crazy woman steps when she gets out of bed...but she was already up. she fussed over me, which was nice, but then said something about how if there's a next time maybe i could make it to the bathroom (like i had any time to think about where i was!). byrdie, who, by the way, hasn't experienced the ickiness of a hairball yet, says i did good.

i made a horrible mistake this morning. remember how byrdie & i made off with the toenail clippers a while back? well, sometimes we play with them, and i was playing with them this morning in bed (i thought the crazy woman was asleep!), and, well, the crazy woman wasn't asleep, and she got the toenail clippers back. byrdie's going to thump me when she finds out. crazy woman: 1; pointy-toenail-loving sneaky sisters: 0. hmph.

ok, so you probably think these girls are just the cutest, sweetest, most lovable girls ever, right? ha! this morning, after our morning ritual (smooches, put out fresh food, smooches, change the water in their bowls, smooches, clean the litter boxes, smooches), i walked into the bedroom and found...a "no whining" pin in the middle of the bed! one of them (both of them?) had broken into a box of stuff in the spare room, dumped it all over the floor, picked out the pin, and oh-so-innocently placed it in the bed. the boogers.

we've been sitting in the kitchen window all day because it's just too hot to snuggle with the crazy woman. there's this "fan" thing in our living room now. byrdie & i aren't sure if we like it yet..we keep circling it, but it messes up our hair. hmph.
